A sketch is a phase that allows me to understand model, its personality, form and facial expressions. Drawing enables me to get to know a person better, their face, it allows me to gain lightness and confidence in depicting peoples’ features and it also helps to crystallize light, expression, tension and composition of the painting. Before creating an oil portrait, a lot of drawings are madefromwhich I choose the right one at the end of the process. Such a final drawing is much more than a preparation for a painting, usually it becomes an independent form with its own expression.
